Ecological Modernization and Energy Consumption

Various approaches defined to tackle with environmental problems in globalized area. One of these approaches is ecological modernization that discussed in many areas including energy. The aim of the present paper is to analyze students' attitudes and support towards policies of ecological modernization in energy. The method of research was survey and  questioner was applied to collect data. Validity of data is confirmed by experts in environmental sociology and reliability of data approved by Cronbach's alpha(great than 70%). Sample of this research composed of 200 undergraduate students at Mazandaran University.The surveyed sample was selected by utilizing randomly simple sampling. Results showed that students' support of policies of ecological modernization in energy ws reported at middle level. Also, students have shown low level of knowledge toward environment while, mean of environmental values was reported above of average level. Mean of environmental behaviors was 3.63. Finally, students' personal efficiency’ was reported at middle level. The regression equation also showed that 42% of changes in level of students' support towards policies of ecological modernization in energy explained with environmental behaviors and environmental knowledge. The paper ended up with suggesting promoting environmentally responsible behavior and developing environmental values among university students.
